La mobilisation antifasciste se poursuit en Espagne pour contrer les attaques des néo-fascistes contre les institutions catalanes. Le 30 octobre, l’organisation En Peu de Pau, groupe de défense pacifique des droits démocratiques, a maintenu une ligne de défense devant les studios de la radio Catalane à Barcelone. Les studios ont été envahis par des néo-fascistes lors de la marche pour l’unité de l’Espagne tenue dimanche le 29 octobre dans les rues de Barcelone. Tuesday 31 October 2017 – Barcelona on the streets against fascist attacks (from anti-fascists in Barcelona).
Yesterday, hundreds of people gathered at the entrance of Catalunya Ràdio studios in Barcelona to guard the building against further attack.
The Catalan public broadcaster suffered an invasion by several dozen fascists within a few hours of the proclamation of the Catalan Republic.
Yesterday’s defence mobilisation was convened by En Peu de Pau, a collective advocating civil and peaceful resistance.
In the afternoon, hundreds of people also demonstrated in Barcelona to condemn Sunday’s fascist violence during the unionist demonstration against the Catalan Republic.
Along the route of the march, nazis linked to the Ultimo Bastión group hurled insults and abuse at counter-demonstrators and watching journalists. The Catalan police separated both groups and there were no incidents.
Meanwhile, threatened with a battery of criminal charges carrying sentences of up to 30 years, the dismissed Catalan president Carles Puigdemont has gone to Belgium together with five of his government ministers.
Puigdemont’s lawyer, Paul Bekaert, said he had not gone into hiding and was unable to confirm whether he would seek asylum. Spain’s chief prosecutor is demanding that rebellion charges be brought against him and other organisers of Catalonia’s banned independence referendum.
The Spanish central government took direct control of Catalonia on Monday, replacing sacked officials. It suspended the region’s autonomy and called for fresh elections after Mr Puigdemont and his government declared independence last week.
On Tuesday, Spain’s Guardia Civil (a paramilitary force charged with police duties) raided the offices of the Catalan police force. According to media reports, they searched eight offices for communications relating to the referendum on 1 October.

Voici un important communiqué d’antifascistes à Barcelone sur l’implication de divers groupes néo-fascistes espagnols, dont la Phalange, Démocratie Nationale et Espagne 2000, dans les incidents de Barcelone du 29 octobre 2017. Ils soulignent également le soutien apporté par des groupes néo-nazis ukrainiens paramilitaires du bataillon Azov aux attaques racistes qui ont été perpétrées lors de la marche pour l’unité de l’Espagne. Plusieurs attaques contre des membres des minorités visibles, d’antifascistes, et même une femme enceinte battue car elle parlait le Catalan. Au moins deux personnes ont été hospitalisées mais la police n’a procédé qu’à une arrestation, malgré la violence et le nombre des attaques des néo-fascistes tout au long de la manifestation. Monday 30 October 2017 – from anti-fascists in Barcelona
Fascist attacks in Barcelona during demonstration against the Catalan republic.
The anti-Catalan independence demonstration mobilised by the right-wing Catalan Civil Society (SCC) and supported by the Spanish nationalist parties PP, PSOE and C’s gathered tens of thousands of people in Barcelona yesterday from all over Spain.
All the far-right Spanish organisations like España2000, Spanish Falange, National Democracy (DN) and others joined the protest.
During the unionist demonstration and throughout the day, there were numerous incidents involving nazis and fascists throughout the city.
The vicious violence included racist attacks against Indian and Pakistani citizens, clashes with the Catalan police, robberies of shops owned by citizens of Arab origin, attacks on political headquarters of the Esquerra Republicana de Catalunya (ERC) and random assaults on members of leftist organisations.
Many of the incidents were reported by ordinary citizens, who via the hashtag #AlertaUltra on Twitter. At least two people were hospitalised as a result of the attacks and police made just a single arrest. Also, a taxi driver and a pregnant woman were attacked for speaking in Catalan as can be seen in videos under the #AlertaUltra hashtag on the internet.
Today, Monday, the former leader of the French National Front, Jean Marie Le Pen, has shown his support to Spain against Catalunya through Twitter with the Francoist motto “Spain One, Big and Free”.
Meanwhile, the infamous nazi paramilitaries and mercenaries of the Ukrainian Azov Battalion have published a video highlighting their support for their Spanish comrades against Catalan separatism. This follows the rumours of a possible intervention by these nazi thugs that have been swirling around the internet during the weekend.

Alors qu’une imposante manifestation contre l’indépendance de la Catalogne se tenait à Barcelone en ce dimanche, 29 octobre 2017, plusieurs néo-fascistes ont pris part à la manifestation. Plusieurs ont fait le salut nazi lors du parcours. Ils ont également attaqués des membres des minorités visibles sur leur passage.

Pendant ce temps, la veille, à Valence, plusieurs milliers de personnes ont répondu aux extrémistes de l’extrême-droite. Une imposante manifestation antifasciste s’est tenue dans les rues de la ville.
